Dr. Aruna Shekar

VP-Asia Pacific, PDMA, USA

Dr Aruna Shekar is Innovator-in-Residence at the Ecentre. As Senior Lecturer she has taught Product Innovation at Massey for more than twenty four years, and has coordinated the final year product development projects with industry. She has led the humanitarian course in conjunction with Engineers Without Borders (EWB), when her students won National and Australasian awards. Her focus is on fostering creative problem solving.
She is a Foundation Board member of the Product Development & Management Association in New Zealand (www.pdma-nz.org). Aruna is Vice President (Asia-Pacific) for PDMA-USA.
Dr Shekar believes that innovation and entrepreneurial skills are at the heart of any organisation. The exciting, fast-paced nature of new products/services, best practices, the success stories and the strong people-focus continue to keep me engaged. She believes in helping people develop skills in product innovation and shape the future by creating a platform for them to achieve great things.

Mr. Manibaalan

Mr. Manibaalan Chokkalingam is an Business Consultant at Fhyzics Business Consultants Pvt. Ltd. with a B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Master’s in Sustainable Energies at ISEP- Porto, Portugal, was exposed to engineering and research-based knowledge. He was also selected for a Postgraduate in Product and Service Design Innovation at Porto Design Factory under the course ME310 offered by the prestigious Stanford University. He has previous experiences in working closely with an electronic retailing brand in Europe to improve their supply chain operations and other processes. Thereby, he challenged to reduce the lead time with an innovative solution. Exposed to the concept of design thinking and strongly driven by Innovation, Engineering and Sustainability mindset, currently aspiring to add value as a Business Consultant.
Manibaalan is an expediter in Process Customization and new process developments. His ability to manage the data and capitalize it as a valuable information allows any project to be successful. He always manages to bring Process improvements for any organization. Thereby, he contributes majorly to the field of Standard Operating Procedure in addition to New product development, business plan, and process maps.

M/s. Meenakshi Narayanan is Vice President & Head of R&D at CavinKare Private Ltd., Chennai, Dr. Meenakshi Narayanan, heads the R&D at CavinKare Research Center. Dr. Meenakshi Narayanan has been with CavinKare since 2001. She is involved in strategizing product concepts; to develop and deliver differentiated products for the various businesses of Cavinkare. She has developed facilities & capabilities of basic research and extramural research thereby developing future platform technologies and IPRs for the company. She has filed several patents and publications to her credit.
Meenakshi holds a Doctoral degree in Microbiology from Bharathiar University; Post Graduate degree in Medical Microbiology from Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey, USA and a Diploma in Cosmetic Science from De Montford University & Society of Cosmetic Science, UK. She has over 27 years of work experience in diverse industries and areas – both national and international – including Reproductive Biology, Embryology, Microbiology – Medical, Pharmaceutical and Personal care industry. Prior to joining CavinKare, she has worked with Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals (Chennai); Madras Assisted Reproduction Research Center (Chennai); and with Almana General Hospital (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

Solo-authored two books, written numerous articles/cases in International journals; produced an academic film that was screened in Baltimore at International festival; regular columnist in a leading business daily Hindu Business Line; active researcher in the area of “Emerging markets- New Product development and Sales/distribution challenges.”
Consistent high feedback across various courses taught in Sales and Marketing, across various leading Institutes. Conducted Management development programs for many Senior Management in corporates. Awarded the title’ Subject Expert- Marketing’ by TCS.

Mr. G. R. Ravi, an entrepreneur in the field of Transmission line business currently Managing Director of Teems India Towerlines Private Limited, having vast experience from 1988 and built around 2000 route kms of Extra High Voltage Transmission lines in India, Middle East and Africa.
Mr.Ravi was instrumental in the establishment of his previous Partnership firm M/s.Teems Engineering Constructions with his father and the expansion the business of the above firm during the period from 1988 to 2007. Under Mr. Ravi’s leadership, M/s.Teems Engineering Constructions moved from undertaking transmission line projects for the local State Transmission Utility (i.e. The Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board) to undertaking projects for other State’s Transmission Utilities (i.e. The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation) and from there onto undertaking inter-state transmission projects for the Central Transmission Utility (i.e. The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, one of the largest and most respected transmission utilities in the world).

Dr. Saravana Kumar

Dr. Saravana Kumar received his PhD from IIT Kanpur in 2004. After a short postdoctoral training as a research associate at the same place, he joined IIT Guwahati in December 2004 as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Saravana Kumar joined the faculty of Engineering Design in December 2008.
In general his research aims at development of representational and computational tools for virtual and physical prototyping applied to arrive at solutions to design problems. Some of the specific research areas include CAD and 3D data acquisition technologies: geometrical modelling schemes, X-ray tomography, photogrammetry and image-based modelling systems; Rapid prototyping: advances in rapid prototyping technologies; Bio-inspired routes: fractal geometry, soft computing tools like neural networks, genetic algorithms for various inverse design and optimization problems.
He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of functional and conceptual design, design for manufacturing and assembly, computer aided design, optimization and rapid product development.

Mr. Venkadesh Narayanan

Mr. Venkadesh Narayanan is the Principal Consultant at Fhyzics Business Consultants Private Limited and President at Product Development and Management Association (India) - An Indian affiliate of PDMA, USA. He is a Mechanical Engineer and an MBA with over 28 years of experience in Consulting, Business Analysis, New Product Development, Supply Chain Management and Process Improvement. Mr. Narayanan is a former member of Indian Civil Services [IRAS 2000 Batch] and served at Indian Railways, Larsen & Toubro – ECC, Siemens (USA), Euro-Pro LLC (USA) and Latex International (USA) prior to joining Fhyzics.
Mr. Venkadesh Narayanan is also teaching a 3-credit course titled “Business Analysis and Design” for the MBA students of Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Trichy students covering the key areas of business analysis such as Overview of Business Analysis and Role of Business Analyst, Requirements Gathering, Requirements Documentation, Testing & Deployment and Being a successful BA. He is also functioning as Honorary Director of King Makers IAS Academy, a leading institution in India preparing graduates towards Indian Civil Services Examinations.
